MAINS CONTRIBUTION BY SAUSSURE

  • semiotic:
       It is the study of signs, their forms of expression and contents. So what is a sign?
       Maybe the best defi nition is the one that just states that signs in the non-metaphorical
       sense are phenomena produced intentionally by humans and taken by humans to show the
       intention of the producer, and its content.


  • Signifier: It’s the pointing finger, the word, the sound- image


  •  Signified: It’s the concept, the meaning, the thing indicated the signifier. It does not need to be a real object but is some referent to which the signifier refers.

  • Synchronic Language: It is the study of the language in a specific time.

  • Diachronic Language: It is the study of the language in some points in time.
  • langue: language as a system. it is any particular language that it is the common possession of all the members of a given language community.
  • parole: language behavior. how a person speaks , it does not matter if it is correct or incorrect.
  • Linguistic sign, le signifie.

  • Linguistic sign , le significant.

  • concret concept.

  • abstract concept.
